Energy Safe Skills
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information this website collects, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

About this policy
Energy Safe Skills is a classroom safety education program sponsored by CenterPoint Energy. This policy applies to energysafeskills.org and the program pages, class registration forms, videos, and staff tools available through this website.
Information we collect
Class registration information
When an instructor registers a class, we collect the information entered on the form:
- Name, email address, and optional phone number
- School, institute, or trade organization
- Address, city, and ZIP code
- Course name and approximate number of students
- State program and how the instructor heard about Energy Safe Skills
We also record the date and time of the registration. The form asks for an estimated class size, not student names or other student information.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and security providers may process standard technical information when you use the site, such as your IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, and request times. We use this information to deliver the site, prevent abuse, and diagnose errors.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and roughly where they are located. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information like your browser and device details, pages viewed, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. We use these reports to improve the site and the program, not to show you ads. You can learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Administrator information
The restricted registration dashboard is for authorized program office staff. If an administrator signs in, we process their email address and use a session cookie to keep them signed in. The site does not create accounts for instructors or students.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Administer class registrations and communicate with instructors
- Plan and report on program participation
- Operate, secure, maintain, and improve the website
- Meet legal obligations and protect the program, its visitors, and others
We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
When information is shared
Authorized program office staff can access registration information. We also use service providers for website hosting, database storage, email delivery, authentication, security, and analytics. These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services or meet their legal obligations.
The registration form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to distinguish people from automated traffic. Turnstile processes browser and device signals needed for that security check. When you open an embedded video, YouTube or Vimeo may receive technical information about the request and apply its own privacy terms. Our YouTube embeds use YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain, and Vimeo embeds request its do-not-track mode.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the program and others.
Cookies
The public website uses Google Analytics cookies to measure how the site is used, as described above. It does not use advertising cookies. The restricted staff dashboard uses a session cookie for authentication. Third-party security or video services may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies when their content loads. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Students and children
Students do not need an account and should not enter personal information into the instructor registration form. We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to provide personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information through this site, contact us so we can review the request.
Retention and security
We keep registrations and related administrative records for program administration, participation reporting, and legal needs. We retain them only while they remain useful for those purposes or as required by law. We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may ask about personal information associated with a registration or request a correction or deletion. Whether we can complete a request may depend on our legal and recordkeeping obligations. Email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website or our practices change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date.
